ACBMemphis's video: TEAC A 4010S Reel to Reel: First start in 30 years

@TEAC A 4010S Reel to Reel: First start in 30 years
A neighbor gave me this Teac A-4010S reel to reel tape deck and, according to him, it was last powered on over 30 years ago! The belt had disintegrated into a pile of rubble, and the pinch roller arm was sticky. I got it going again. For this video, we take a quick look at some of the interesting things about this tape deck, and see how it stacks up against a Sony TC-353 and a Sears Silvertone 4238. In the end, the newer Sony works better now in 2019, but I have a feeling in prime operating condition the Teac motor mechanism would easily outperform it. UPDATE 2 MONTHS LATER: More repairs to fix reversing and speed problems in this video: https://youtu.be/I-kMTOqFTq4 00:00 - Intro 00:27 - Historical Information 01:51 - Repairs Part 1, Belt 02:40 - Repairs Part 2, Frozen Arm 03:35 - Repairs Part 3, Reel Caps 04:23 - Sony vs Teac vs Sears 05:52 - Auto Reverse 06:32 - Teac vs Teac 07:31 - Two boxes in one 08:00 - Conclusion
