ACBMemphis's video: Pioneer CA-100 Tape Creating Amplifier

@Pioneer CA-100 Tape Creating Amplifier
Pioneer's "Tape Creating Amplifier" (1983-85) has a misleading name, since it doesn't create tapes or amplify! It's an equalizer, mixer, and fader intended for use when creating a mix tape. The CA-100 was introduced in 1983 as a middle-ground component, sandwiched between the MA-110 Mic Mixing Amplifier (which had more microphone inputs) and the SG-90 Graphic Equalizer (which had more bands of equalization). However, (in my opinion) by targeting a middle ground of casual users, it introduces some problems. For example, if you leave it permanently connected to your system, it makes switching a tape deck in and out more difficult, since it requires you to move a slider to line level or use a fader and wait. I am not sure how well this product did in the marketplace. While perusing old HiFi magazines, I never found the CA-100. In the 1983 catalog, Pioneer had multiple pages of sound add-on components, but by 1985 they were lumped together on a single page (with a timer!). In 1986, the only remnant of the original trio from this line was the SG-90 equalizer. Thanks for watching the video. If you have ever seen a Pioneer CA-100 Tape Creating Amplifier in actual use, I would like to hear a comment on how it was used and whether or not it was considered a successful product.
