Croatia is known for its beautiful ocean water and pebbly beaches. We will show you that there is more to this country by visiting Plitvice Lakes National Park and the town of Omis. Have you ever dreamed of hiking with waterfall after waterfall as your scenery? Then Plitvice Lakes National Park is the place for you. Plitvice Lakes National Park is situated about 250km northeast of Split. This park is over 300 square kilometres and has 16 lakes and well over 90 waterfalls. We visited the park in October of 2018 which is a great time to go. There are way fewer people and the fall colours really pop. This is a must see and should be on everyone's bucket list. Well worth the drive. The town of Omis is just a 30-minute drive south of Split. This is a beautiful town situated right on the Adriatic sea, sits at the base of some beautiful mountains and port at the mouth of the Cetina River. This town's main inhabitants were pirates, back in the 13th century, who built two fortresses. We visit the fortress Mirabella which has a spectacular view of the town and sea.
