Getting lost in the desert while riding is, for me, the fun part of exploring new riding areas. You might know the general area you're in and the general direction of where you staged but it's all extremely 'fuzzy' and up for debate. Mountains in the distance can be a big help as a frame of reference to keep your bearings so pay attention. But sometimes intuition is your best bet for getting back safely.
