În România, la 22 de kilometri de Câmpulung Moldovenesc, şi la 31 de kilometri de Gura Humorului, în comuna Vatra Moldoviţei, judeţul Suceava, între pârâurile Moldovița și Ciumârna, se află Mănăstirea de maici Moldoviţa, ctitorită de domnitorul Petru Rareş în anul 1532, cu hramul Buna Vestire. Străjuită de Munţii Ciumârnei şi Dealul Obcinei, Moldoviţa este una dintre cele mai vechi așezări călugărești, cu o valoroasă istorie, una dintre bijuteriile artei vechi moldoveneşti.
