@Pamukkale - the Cotton Castle in Denizli Türkiye - Castelul de Bumbac
PAMUKKALE - TURKEY COTTON CASTLE The "cotton mountain" aspect of Pamukkale is due to the hot springs in the area. In the past there were several springs with different temperatures, which came to the surface in Hierapolis, but due to the numerous earthquakes, many disappeared or moved elsewhere. Because of the carbon dioxide, the water comes to the surface, and the calcium from the salts existing in the water forms a white "poleiala" on the surface, which is deposited everywhere where the water passes. It is said that this water has two properties: it washes well and fixes the color. In addition they contain a number of salts and sulfides that are beneficial for health, especially for cardiovascular, skin, rheumatic, eye and some nutritional diseases. This explains why, in the past, there were several temples that treated the sick, combining spa belts with different diets. The Pamukkale terraces are located in the northwestern area of Turkey, about 20 kilometers from the city of Denizli and come in the form of huge white terraces that look, at first sight, on ice. The region was formed on an area of 2.5 kilometers long and 500 meters wide. The year 129 BC is the time when the Roman Empire conquered the ancient city of Hierapolis, at a stone's throw from Pamukkale. The emperors Nero and Adrian declare the area a "spa resort", astonished by the miracle they encountered. Pamukkale or "Cotton Castle" is 19 km north of the city of Denizli on the main road to Aydin. Visiting the terraces of Pamukkale gives you the opportunity to discover the ancient city of Hierapolis. The ruins of the city, preserved quite well, date from the period of King Eumenes II of Pergam and from the Roman period, considered the most flourishing for Hierapolis. Today we can admire: the Theater, the Byzantine Church, the Martyrdom of St. Philip, the marble road, the temples, the Necropolis, the Byzantine Gate and the Arch of Domitian. video_sony xperia Z5
