AFAC's video: Snapshot of the Contemporary Dance in the Arab Region

As part of our strategy in bringing forth compelling and touching narratives around the work of our grantees, AFAC commissioned a trailer, "Snapshot of the Contemporary Dance in the Arab Region," which takes an intimate look at the state of contemporary dance in the Arab region, through the voice of our grantees. The contemporary dance scene in the region has been in constant development, and is being recognized as an important vehicle of free and creative expression, especially thanks to a new generation of contemporary dancers taking up dance as a means of much-needed social, political and artistic expression. The organic growth of this genre, however, is challenged by an already difficult environment that lacks capacity building programs, training centers and dedicated festivals, among others.
