This suspicion was due to a number of reasons. Every issue has a background. At first, the farmers were aware that during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the ruling party had promised the farmers that the report of the Dr. Swaminathan Commission would be implemented once their government was formed. This meant that farmers were given MSP. The support price will be 50 per cent higher than their expenses. That did not happen.
