Among those patriots, Lala Hardyal was such a personality, who awakened the sedition movement among the Indian people. Lala Ji was born on 14 October 1884 in Chirekhana Mohalla of Old Delhi to Gauri Dayal Mathur and Bholi Rani. He passed the 10th standard examination from a Christian school in Delhi. Later, BA from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. Received stipend and passed. Later, Lala ji did an M. in English and History from the Government College of Lahore. A. passed Lala Hardyal ji was the first Punjabi, who was given a stipend of 200 pounds annually by the British government to pursue higher education at Oxford University in England. Here he came into contact with prominent revolutionary leaders C.F. Andrews, Shyam Ji, Krishna Verma and Bhai Parmanand. Later he became a member of Abhinav Bharat Sanstha. Lalaji arrived in America in February 1911 and enrolled at Harvard University here and started researching Buddhism. In February 1912, he was appointed professor of Indian philosophy and Sanskrit at Stanford University in California.
