Great patriot Ajit Singh history Ajit Singh, uncle of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, was born on 23 February 1881 in village Khatkar Kalan to Arjan Singh. Arjan Singh was the son of Sardar Fateh Singh. Fateh Singh earned his iron in the First Anglo-Sikh War (1845). Ajit Singh's elder brother Kishan Singh and younger brother Swaran Singh were also freedom fighters. In 1906, the British government met the displeasure of the farmers of Chenab Colony by introducing the Settlement Bill. Many soldiers were given lands in exchange for their bravery. In order to stop the division of lands, the Viceroy of India, Lord Minto, in May 1907 through the Settlement Act, established the right of only the eldest son after the death of the father over the land. Increased revenue by 25 percent in Rawalpindi district. In November 1906, the 'Bari Doab Act' was passed and the import tax was increased. Against this, Sardar Ajit Singh led the farmers by establishing the Zemindara League in Punjab. They wanted to create awareness among the farmers.
