Baba Sohan Singh Bhakna was born on 4 January 1870 at village Bhakna to Mr. Karam Singh and Bibi Ram Kaur. Babaji became a fan of the Namdhari movement at a young age and developed a passion for patriotism. He had mobilized the farmers by conducting village-to-village meetings for the success of the 'Pagdi Savanha O Jatta' movement. The economic condition of Baba Sohan Singh Bhakna's family became weak and he left for America on 4th April 1909 in search of a worker. There he started working in a wood factory. After a short period of time, the natives of America started hating the Hindi workers. There were two reasons for hatred - one was that the Hindi community was enslaved, the other was that Hindi laborers went to work for long hours at low wages.
