On June 25, President Ram Nath Kovind will leave for Kanpur by the Presidential Express from Delhi's Safdarjung Railway Station. President Kovind will leave from Kanpur Central Railway Station on 28th for his two-day journey to Lucknow. On June 29, the President will return to New Delhi in a special plane. President's train to stop at two stations in Kanpur The presidential train will stop at two small stations in Kanpur Dehat, Jhinjhak and Rura, where President Kovind will meet acquaintances from his early life. President Kovind's congratulation ceremony will be held in his ancestral village Paraunkh The two stations where the presidential train will stop are situated close to Paraunkh village in Kanpur Dehat, the birthplace of President Kovind. On the 27th of June, two felicitation ceremonies will also be organized in his honour in his native village. most respected position in the country. First visit to birthplace since becoming the President This is his first visit to his birthplace after becoming the President. The president had earlier wanted to go to his birthplace but could not go due to the corona epidemic. President's Rail Journey: An Old Tradition There is an old tradition of the President's travelling via train to directly connect with the people of this country. This train journey for President Kovind is also a part of the same tradition. After the hiatus of 15 years, the current President, Ram Nath Kovind, will undertake the train journey. Earlier in 2006, the then President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam had travelled from Delhi to Dehradun where he was scheduled to attend the passing out parade of the Indian Military Academy. Dr Rajendra Prasad used to travel by rail to connect with the local people According to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the country's first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad often liked to travel by rail. Soon after becoming the President, he also visited his birthplace Ziradei in Siwan district in the middle of his Bihar tour. He travelled by train from Chhapra to Ziradei by special Presidential train and stayed there for 3 days. During his Presidential term, he often planned train journeys across the country. After Dr Rajendra Prasad, various Presidents had preferred rail travel to facilitate stronger bonds and connection with the public.
