After my experience with the gentle giants (whale sharks), I became curious afterwards if this was something that was safe for them. They were just so lovely and kind that I hoped there were benefits for them too, besides basically being fed free food everyday. There are rules that we must know before getting into the water with the whale sharks, such as NO touching them and NO wearing sunblock for their safety (plus many more), and I felt that the workers were doing their job in enforcing those rules when we were there. But there are other long-term effects on the whale sharks from this business.
