Indian Government to Call Citizens from the Number 1921 for a Telephonic Survey on Coronavirus Symptoms Indian Government, over the coming days, aims to call citizens of the country from the Number 1921 for a telephonic survey on Coronavirus symptoms The Government of India, over the next couple of days will conduct a telephonic survey to gather citizen feedback on prevalence and distribution of Coronavirus symptoms. In order to do the same, citizens of the country will be given a call on their mobile phones from the number 1921 by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). “The Government of India has decided to gather people’s feedback on prevalence of Coronavirus symptoms, using a telephonic survey. Citizens will receive calls on their mobile phones, from 1921. States and UTs have been requested to popularize the information about the survey,” says the official PIB account. The government has requested participation from all citizens of the country, while asking them to beware of pranksters and fraudsters calling from other numbers. “People are informed that it is a genuine survey and are requested to participate in good measure when a call comes in from 1921 to enable proper feedback of the prevalence and distribution of Covid symptoms. Nevertheless, citizens need to keep in mind the number Indian Government will be using to call is 1921. A call from any other number stating a similar survey could be a phishing or fraudulent call. Any such fraudulent calls from other numbers may be reported to PIB Fact check so that others can be made aware of the same. While the lockdown has been extended to 3 May 2020 to combat the Coronavirus menace in India, the government has been taking various measures on ground to get a real picture of the proliferation of the virus in the country. The telephonic survey from the number 1921 is another such measure taken by the Government of India. The central government has announced it will conduct a telephonic survey on COVID-19. A Ministry of Health and Family Welfare notification says some citizens will get a call from the number 1921 for the COVID-19 survey, which will be carried out by the National Informatics Centre (NIC). The Centre has not announced the exact date when the survey be launched. The ministry has requested people to "participate in a good measure when a call comes in from the number 1921 to enable proper feedback of the prevalence and distribution of COVID-19 symptoms." The health ministry also warned that people should be aware of any calls they receive from pranksters or any other number disguised as a genuine-looking helpline. "Only a phone call from the number 1921 is an authentic survey-related call," the health ministry notification said. The health ministry has requested states and union territories to inform people about the survey and also about the phishing attempts by dubious callers. The state/UT health departments have also been asked to post information on their official websites. The government has also warned people from giving out any personal information to pranksters.
