Appresso una fontana vide sentar la bella soletta, in terra piana ch'una ghirlanda di fresca herbecina: "Voltate in qua, do bella donzellina voltate un poco a me, lucente stella! Translation: A knight who came from Spain was riding down the road around the foot of a mountain, and sang a song of his love to a maiden: "Turn around to me, you beautiful maiden, come, turn a little my way, please, be so kind, my sweet hope, you, for I'm dying for the love of you... Beautiful maid, I lost my heart to you!" Next to a spring he saw then the beautiful girl sitting alone upon the ground, winding a wreath of fresh herbs.
