Tom running; Tom jumping; Tom is static, experiencing unusual moments of introspection and even repentance. Yes, that moment has come again, the moment when Tom Cruise becomes the indefatigable secret agent Ethan Hunt, a man whose mission, if he accepts it, will be the implacable enemy of all the bad things in the world, our last line of defense against the Apocalypse. Mission: Impossible - Fallout, Cruise's sixth "MI" adventure since the film was adapted from the television series created by Bruce Geller in 1996. Shrewd enough to take advantage of that longevity, and not just playing the celebrated tune of Lalo Schifrin at key moments. McQuarrie has recovered several well-known characters from the entire range of previous films: Luther (Ving Rhames), his henchman since the 1996 original; his wife Julia (Michelle Monaghan) from Mission: Impossible III; and others more recently emerged in Rogue Nation as also secret agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson) and the staunch anarchist Solomon Lane (Sean Harris). Rebecca Ferguson in Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Paramount Pictures and Skydance. Although it seems a strange analogy being an action-packed film, these familiar faces, as well as the emotional ties we have forged with their characters over the years, make Mission: Impossible - Fallout the thriller version of a film that one sees for feel comfortable. It is something to which we can return with the full confidence of knowing what we hold onto. However, it is the action scenes, more than the familiar faces, which makes the fans return to the franchise, and no doubt the desire to surpass the previous one has been present in all. In fact, as Cruise grows older (he turned 56 on July 3), his ability to continue doing all his stunts is more admirable, even if from time to time failures occur as a foot break that stopped the filming of Fallout. On this occasion the focus is not on a single spectacular scene like when the Burj Khalifa of Dubai climbed in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, but in what McQuarrie describes as a sequence of exploits: Driving like a madman a motorcycle BMW R nine T through the picturesque streets of Paris, with a scene in which Cruise circulates in the opposite direction around the Arc de Triomphe against 70 vehicles. Climb a helicopter in mid-flight, take the controls, chase another helicopter and engage in combat on top of a cliff, shot in New Zealand and Norway to make it even more terrifying. Running such a long distance and jumping so hard through London that just seeing it makes you tired. Simon Pegg in a scene from "Mission: Impossible - Fallout." Paramount Pictures. Mission: Impossible - Fallout has plot, and so complex that the film lasts 2 hours 27 minutes. But what all those acrobatics indicate is that the essential function of the plot is to be a machine to make scenes of action. This is a film that wants us to live the moment, enjoy what is on the screen and not worry about whether it fits into the plot, which is a bit confusing but is becoming clearer before the inevitable exciting outcome. These interpersonal conflicts work well, but Fallout's spy spies plot is where the film is weakest, as it is easy to deduce what is going to happen. However, the lack of mystery does not damage McQuarrie's film. Mission Impossible has that quality of Ocean's Eleven in which the characters have often guessed the obvious turns, and planned their actions accordingly. What is interesting is not the problem itself, but the ingenious solutions, or action-packed, that our heroes invent. What is interesting is not the problem itself, but the ingenious solutions, or action-packed, that our heroes invent. And yes, the action sequences look great, based on the minimal use of digital special effects and a lot of the participation of Tom Cruise, who is as much a part of the action as possible. McQuarrie gets even more weight in his action sequences and main stunts, thanks to the fact that he can zoom in on the camera in Cruise's face while riding a motorcycle, or keep an image of him hanging from the underside of a helicopter . The action in Fallout has a palpable intensity that comes from that dedication to realism. It will put you on the edge of your seat in a way that many modern movies can not handle, despite the huge budgets for computer-generated images or CGI.
