In this latest episode, we join Richard as he heads out in the South African bush help to reduce the numbers of dassie. Richard has a solid background in air gunning and over 10 years of experience in the field. As an avid conservationist, he is dedicated to promoting ethical and humane airgun hunting. The Fish River Valley region in the Eastern Cape of South Africa is well known for cliff faces that dominate the topography of this area. After a dramatic draught, local safaris are begun to grow Lucerne, which is the most commonly known food source for wild game in South Africa. Dassies come down from the cliffs that are adjacent to the lucerne fields and feed on the crops, which causes a major problem for the farmers. Territorial animals that stay in groups, dassies are perfectly suited to this environment. Extremely aware of their surroundings, they can be difficult to spot. Patience is required when hunting dassies, as they blend so well into the cliff faces. This is going to be a challenging airgun-hunting trip.
