“We work for the community, we work from the heart.” In August 2018, a string of earthquakes and hundreds of aftershocks rattled the Indonesian island of Lombok. Hundreds of lives were lost and 80% of structures were damaged. The Mercy Corps Indonesia response team was deployed to the remote island to help rebuild. While fulfilling their vital mission, the team was hosted in an Airbnb villa, which they used as a base camp for over a year.
