Flying aboard Lufthansa’s A320 enroute to Frankfurt, todays flight only had 50 passengers on board so it’s always nice to have the extra space even if the flight was just 1hr10. Gatwick airport was smooth as ever, security was fast and efficient. I still can’t decide which terminal at Gatwick is my favourite, I worked at Gatwick for 6 years and I still can’t decide, The north terminal has plenty of seating, restaurants and shops, my favourite restaurant in the north is shake shake, I used to always venture there on my break. Todays boarding gate was gate 50, these gates are outdated and I could never understand why gatwick hasn’t yet refurbished them the carpet is very tired and they need a spruce up, however they do the job. Boarding was done in zones and was over rather quickly as there was only 50 passengers and the majority being business travellers everyone boarded very quickly. Today I was sat in Row 5f which is designated as a comfort seat tho it’s the same seat as you’ll find in the business class cabin and the rest of the aircraft, there are now power outlets at the seats. The only downside to this particular row is the curtain divider is right in your face, not so much of an issue but for some it might be annoying. Todays flight was very smooth; we departed Gatwick on time and made our way into the air, crew were friendly, the onboard service began, I got given a bottle of water and a chocolate which I thought was nice, as I wasn’t expecting anything. You could purchase things from the onboard menu, they had a good selection of items, however after my recent trip to the USA I need to watch my weight so I didn’t buy anything today tho I usually would have. It was a very uneventful flight today, the purpose of my trip was to catch an onward flight the next day to Hamburg, the aircraft was due to be a B747, however unfortunately there was a last minute change to that and the aircraft was substituted for an A321, not overly happy with Lufthansa about that but these things do happen, even tho it’s disappointing, as I was excited for my short trip on the B747. I decided to change my flight so I spent a few hours in Frankfurt before flying back the same day.
