His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam today welcomed the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who is in the country on a one-day State Visit, at the Brunei International Airport. King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and delegation landed at the Brunei International Airport this afternoon on a special aircraft. Upon disembarking, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud was greeted by His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. Present at the Brunei International Airport to welcome King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and delegation was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, as Royal-in-Attendance. Also present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance as the Minister-in-Attendance; Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Setia Lim Jock Seng, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Singamanteri Retired Colonel Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohammad Yasmin bin Haji Umar, Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister's Office; and Dato Paduka Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud have stressed the importance of enhancing the coordination and cooperation in the fields of political security, military and Islamic affairs between the two countries. This was stressed in a Joint Statement on the occasion of the State Visit of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques and the King of Saudi Arabia to Brunei Darussalam today. The 17-points Joint Statement also underscored that both leaders agreed to activate the General Agreement of Cooperation signed between the two countries which includes Economic, Investment, Technical, Education, Cultural, Youth and Sport Fields. According to the Joint Statement, both leaders look forward to the results that will emerge from the Meeting of the Joint Saudi-Bruneian Economic Committee which will take place later this year, with decisions that will serve the economies of the two countries and enhance the cooperation of the private sectors of both countries. Both Heads of State also exchanged views on regional and international issues including the latest developments in the Middle East. In this regards, both leaders shared similar views of reaching a permanent, comprehensive and fair solution to the Palestinian cause in accordance with the contents of the Arab Peace Initiative and the decisions of the relative international legitimacy of maintaining the Yemen unity as well as its peace and stability and of finding a long-lasting political solution to the Yemeni Crisis. Their Majesties also agreed on the coordination of their positions in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, O.I.C. and its related bodies in order to serve the interests of the two countries and their brotherly people as well as the interest of the Islamic Nation. Both Leaders emphasized the importance of exterminating extremism and to fight all forms and manifestation of terrorism in whatsoever nature or origin. The departure ceremony took place at about four this afternoon. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam bid farewell to the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud at the Brunei International Airport. Present at the airport was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office as Royal-in-Attendance. Also present to bid farewell were the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance as the Minister-in-Attendance; the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade; the Minister of Energy and Industry at the Prime Minister's Office; and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. His Majesty highly appreciates the historic State Visit by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud to Brunei Darussalam.
