He is the most famous reporter for Foreign Affairs in one of the oldest countries in the field of journalism, and deepest influence around the world. His career extends back for more than forty years, of which he spent - even now - thirty-four years taking Beirut as a base to cover the Middle East and Southeast Asia. He was one of the first to arrive at the crime scene in the massacre of Sabra and Shatila during the civil war in Lebanon.
