@Lat Pulldown Mistakes (KILLING BACK GAINS!)
Exercise Tutorial 2: Lat Pull Down
Episode 2: Targeted Muscle - Back (Lats)
Tip 1: Keep your elbows in front while doing lat pull-downs.
- As you can see, having them in a flared position activates more of the upper back.
Your elbow, forearm, and wrist should stay in line.
Tip 2: Don’t lean too far back when pulling down.
- Ideally, at the top position, you should be completely vertical to get maximum stretch in your lats.
Then lean back around 10-15 degrees and bring the bar to your upper chest.
Tip 3: Don’t stop the exercise when you can’t complete a full rep anymore.
- Do 3-4 partial reps in the stretched position, similar to what you've seen Sam Sulek do.
- Bonus Tip: Use a neutral grip attachment with a thumbless grip to prevent excessive forearm engagement and get a crazy mind-muscle connection in your lats.
Lat pull down is one of the best exercise for lats as a vertical pulling movement. Hope these tips help elevate your Back training in gym! Try this in your next back workout.
