@1-22-16 Periscope: Online Course Creation Q + A
In this week's Periscope, I answer more questions from you about VIDEO! I discuss the different facets of online course creation, and how to be a dynamic instructor on camera. Your clothes, the lighting, and background are all important features of your video, especially if you are creating online courses. Remember to wear neutral colors that are different than the color of the background so that you stand out on screen. Try to avoid patterned clothing as it might appear distorted on camera. Use natural lighting or any lights you may have to make sure your face has no shadows, and is evenly lit. If your natural light is too bright, use parchment paper to dim it down a little and act as a filter. Play around with the lighting and go with whatever you think looks best. The background of your videos should be simple, yet interesting. They might inform the viewer about who you are, or the kind of video they are watching. How to save a live Periscope as a video for your blog or YouTube: 1. Download QuickTime 10 (or make sure your Quicktime is version 10 by clicking QuickTime Player>About QuickTime Player 2. Click File>New Movie Recording 3. Plug your phone into your computer 4. Select the downward arrow to the right of the record button and select your phone under "Camera" and "Microphone" Your phone screen will then appear on your computer screen, anything you do on the phone will mirror on the computer. 5. Open the Periscope app on your phone and prepare to begin your live (or private) Periscope stream. Rotate your phone horizontally so that the video fills up the entire phone screen (this is better for YouTube) 6. Click the Record button on QuickTime 7. Begin your Periscope 8. Once you finish your Periscope, stop the QuickTime recording 9. In QuickTime, you will be able to trim your video and cut out the very beginning and end of the recording of your phone screen (before the Periscope had started, and afterwards) Click Edit>Trim 10. Once you have trimmed the video , save it to your computer by clicking File>Save 11. Upload to your blog or YouTube channel!
