Alexa Lexie's video: ben rey i am the others

@ben & rey || i am the others.
I hope that the difference in my editing with this doesn’t seem too odd, but I can say that my editing was definitely influenced by the quirkiness of the song. Son Lux’s music is always quirky and odd. That’s why I like them so much. I first had wanted to just focus on editing together clips, focusing on the camera movements within them as well as the movement with the subjects in the frame. Idk, just wanted to do something different with it to be able to separate it from past edits, to make it somewhat unique. While editing, it evolved into something else, or at least that’s the way I see it, judging from how it looked when I began vs. how it ended up. The parallels that I had made, was to show how they were each other’s complement, however the sense of detachment with my editing (at least that’s how it feels to me, which I guess is because of the lack of voiceovers) conveys how they don’t necessarily realize it, given that they are each other’s opponent, so the rivalry distracts them from what’s right under their nose, which is the belonging they can find in each other. All Ben and Rey have is their past now, and I don’t know why, but I guess how I edited it, it seems like he’s telling her to let go of him, to move on, or either, to let go of whatever they were searching for their entire lives. "I am the others," meaning that it’s only Rey. They both figured that the “others” they were referring to was at least someone, someone that’s there so they’re not alone. I think when it says “I am the others,” at the end is some sort of revelation like, “its only me here.” Calling out into the void hoping one day that someone might answer, and the moment you finally get that answer, it’s immediately ripped away from you, and it's just you alone again. That’s kind of how I interpret Ben and Rey’s last scene together, at least within this edit. To further prove this point, or interpretation of the song, in the beginning the male singer asks “Am I the only one? Where are the others?” And the female singer responds with “I am the others.” But at the end, when he asks again, he answers himself, saying “I am the others.” I hope that you take something new to this. I’ve edited them so many times, so I hope that there’s something different in this that makes it somewhat new or refreshing. :) I hope you guys enjoy!! Thank you.
