CLICK THE LINK TO DONATE www.gofundme.com/tribalchildren Check out the tribal films on my channel (both in english and danish). Nisarga Foundation is a non-governmental organisation in Karnataka, India who work to help the large local tribal population. In the 1970s, the tribal population were abruptly thrown out of the forests they had resided in for an eternity, due to the creation of national parks and the construction of large dams. This displacement has caused huge problems for the tribal population as they have been forced into modern India without any official language skills, any formal education and no place to really call home. Problems such as alcohol abuse, disease and sexual abuse has followed. Nisarga Foundation has a number of projects in the surrounding areas of HD Kote. They have outreach programs with the tribal communities, issue health supplements to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers as well as young children, have built pre-primary centres and educate the next generation of tribal children at Bridge School. Bridge School, at Nisarga Foundation, was built in 2013 with help from Lions Club Hellerup & Gladsaxe and has changed the lives of the tribal children who attend. Here they are safe, healthy, well nourished and a receive an education giving them a chance to exit the cycle of poverty they have been stuck in for 30 years since the displacement. Last year, 2017, funding was cut for Bridge School's running costs by the Indian Government and other international donors. Without this money, Bridge School will ultimately have to close in the next year as emergency funds are running low. The tribal children at Bridge School will be abandoned and return to a life with no hope - only a life of child marriage and illegal child labour. With your support, Bridge School can stay open for another 12 month - giving them time to find other donors and a long term solution. With just £10 a child at Bridge School can receive 3 meals a day for 21 days. The goal of £10,000 will ensure the school remains open for the next 12 months. The children will continue to be fed nutritional food, the cook's salary can be paid, new educational materials can be purchased and bills can be settled. Bunk beds can also be purchased and the children will no longer sleep on the hard concrete floor. The children at Bridge School can have a future of change, they do see hope but they need your help. Any amount, little or large, will make a difference to a tribal child's life.
