The Wrath...The Epitath In the fall of 1992, a convergence of color and sound would occur in the underground trenches of Los Angeles. The four agents of change would be known to Earthlings as Jahli, Hymnal, Blackbird, and Dark Cloud 9, shaping the destiny of LA hip-hop for years to come. They made a name for themselves after rocking the Good Life alongside groundbreaking crews like the Shapeshifters and Down to Earth. Early collaborations with Cut Chemist and the Unity Committee led to tracks like "The Verdict" and "Fuckin' Up the Earth," establishing Darkleaf as a force in the underground community. Shift the magnetic poles six yarns later, and 1998 finds Darkleafs legacy totalling nine with the addition of members Longevity, St. Mark, Phenx, Kemit Qutob, and Shuma Gurath. Together they create music that is totally removed from mainstream thought, a commentary on the whole picture of planetary function. Although their tracks seem to pop on mixtapes all the time, look for the official Kemit release this Spring, as well as a Darkleaf Album to be released by summer. -Daddy Kev
