Ole Ole Ole and Welcome to All Your Living Needs, I'm your host Johno and this is the MLS Vancouver Whitecaps vs Portland Timbers Major League Soccer 2014. Time: 10:30PM EST Saturday August 30th 2014 Previous Meetings (Vancouver 1 Win, 1 Loss, 3 Draws) Jun 1, 2014 POR 3 - 4 VAN Oct 6, 2013 VAN 2 - 2 POR Aug 4, 2013 POR 1 - 1 VAN May 18, 2013 VAN 2 - 2 POR Oct 21, 2012 VAN 0 - 1 POR Season Goal Leaders Vancouver Whitecaps FC Portland Timbers Pedro Morales 7 Maximiliano Urruti 8 Darren Mattocks 6 Diego Valeri 7 Erik Hurtado 4 Fanendo Adi 6 Gastón Fernández 6 Will Johnson 6 Season Stats Vancouver Whitecaps FC Portland Timbers 24 Games Played 25 7 Wins 7 5 Losses 8 12 Draws 10 Vancouver Whitecaps Vancouver lost to the LA Galaxy 2 - 0 during last weekends game. The Galaxy were back in full form with Landon Donovan taking a goal in the 5th minute sending the team into the lead and with Marcelo Sarvas goal in the 32nd minute saw Vancouver too far behind to catch up. In fact the Galaxy pretty much had Vancouver chasing their tail as the Galaxy dominated the ball most of the night and made some really great attempts including a 66th minute shot by Landon Donovan due to a lack of defending by the Whitecaps. Vancouver saw a red card in the 89th minute sending Johnny Leveron out of the game ending what little chance the Whitecaps had of seeing any sort of goal and praying the clock would wind down quickly. Disciplinary Report: Johnny Leveron OUT Red Card Harvey, Rosales 1) caution away from suspension Disabled List: M Andre Lewis (R ACL sprain) F Caleb Clarke (R quadriceps) Conference Standings: Western Conference Portland Timbers Portland lost to the Seattle Sounders 4 - 2 on Sunday August 24th. Portland found themselves left behind pretty quickly in the game with Martins and Dempsey scoring for Seattle in the first half leaving Portland in their wake. Little changed at the beginning of the second half as Seattle’s Chad Barrett made the third uninterrupted goal at the 69th minute. Portland did try to make a last minute attempt to tie things up and by the 72nd minute scored their first goal of the game. Their last of the game came in the second half stoppage time but it didn’t make a difference to the end results that Seattle won. Disciplinary Report: P.M. Kah 1) caution away from suspension Disabled List: None Conference Standings: Western Conference NOTES ON PREDICTION: Both these teams are coming off horrible losses and need an encouraging game to get them back on their feet. Of course there is always a winner and loser unless the game ties, which in this case is most likely. Though my role is I must set a winning score even though I think it may end in a tie. Both teams are fairly evenly matched.
