Ole Ole Ole and Welcome to All Your Living Needs, I'm your host Johno and this is the MLS Toronto FC vs Philly Union Major League Soccer 2014. Time: 2:00PM EST Saturday September 6th 2014 Previous Meetings (Philly 1 Win 4 Ties) Sep 3, 2014 PHI 0 - 0 TOR Oct 5, 2013 PHI 1 - 0 TOR Jun 1, 2013 TOR 1 - 1 PHI Apr 13, 2013 PHI 1 - 1 TOR Sep 15, 2012 TOR 1 - 1 PHI Season Goal Leaders Toronto FC Philadelphia Union Jermain Defoe 11 Sebastien Le Toux 11 Gilberto 6 Conor Casey 6 Luke Moore 5 Andrew Wenger 4 Season Stats Toronto FC Philadelphia Union 24 Games Played 25 9 Wins 7 9 Losses 9 6 Draws 9 Toronto FC Toronto lost to New England 0 - 3 on Saturday August 30th. Toronto just wasn’t able to hold onto the ball long enough to set up any shots and with a weak defensive line New England had control of the ball, the game, and the goals. Toronto head coach Ryan Nelsen even moved the team from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-4-2 but it made little difference as New England’s Teal Bunbury was able to score yet again in the 59th minute. Disciplinary Report: Warner 1) caution away from suspension Disabled List: M Warren Creavalle (L hamstring strain) F Andrew Wiedeman (low back) D Steven Caldwell (R quadriceps strain) D Justin Morrow (R hamstring strain) F Jermain Defoe (R adductor strain) Conference Standings: Eastern Conference Philly Union Philly beat the San Jose Quakes 4 - 2 on Sunday August 24th. The game saw Rais Mbolhi make his debut as goalkeeper for Philly. Nine minutes into the game and the Union already had full control of the ball and the game with a starting goal from Andrew Wenger with an assist from Le Toux. Then just five minutes later it was Le Toux with the goal from inside the box. In the 70th minute San Jose tied the score up 2 - 2 with a goal by Wondolowski. Sheanon Williams broke the tie in the 72nd minute and in the 79th minute Wenger ran up the center for the goal making the final score 4 - 2. The score could have actually have been higher as Conor Casey made a great attempt in the 57th minute but was blocked by San Jose goalkeeper Jon Busch Disciplinary Report: None Disabled List: D Fabinho (L knee strain) Conference Standings: Eastern Conference NOTES ON PREDICTION: I’m concerned for Toronto going into this game. The Philly looked really strong. Though again that’s against the San Jose Quakes currently ranked 8th in the Western Conference so maybe Toronto doesn’t need to worry. But after seeing the mess they made of defense in their game against New England I think the coach needs to try something new and he might be running out of time. Toronto might be burnt out and needing a rest. If Philly can score early they will break Toronto’s concentration and the game will be theirs.
