As, in the past, I have never been able to stomach others before him. And this is partly because I don’t really like watching people eat food, period. But then there are all the weird reactions, and the unnecessary commentary, and I really don’t know anyone who groans with pleasure every time they eat something. It’s just completely weird and off-putting. And if I knew someone like this, I would certainly avoid sitting anywhere near them when eating my own food. But for me the hardest part of watching other food bloggers is imagining that I was there, as a customer in the restaurant, and being forced to endure some loudmouth wannabe presenter rambling on about their food. So this is why I will forever prefer Gary20O over other more polished food bloggers, where he instead plops down a simple camera to the table, and just eats and enjoys his meal like normal folk. Before going elsewhere to talk about and review the food. In short, he is just non-intrusive and in-turn much more likeable. So this is just one reason why Gary200 is set apart from other food bloggers on YouTube. But there are many less obvious reasons that keep me coming back to his content. For a start, he is surprisingly relatable, not only in his somewhat geeky interests, like gaming, but also in what he eats and reviews. As I will always be more drawn to weird adaptations of familiar foods brands in Asia, than seeing another food blogger munching down on insects, or whatever, with the usual played out backpacker bravado. And while I may have included his rather basic review of Peach Coca-Cola, which is obviously questionable in its professionalism, it is still entertaining. At the same time, what more can you say about Peach Coca-Cola without overstating it in some weird, pretentious and overthought way. As Gary20O just kind of simplifies food blogging instead of stressing about detail, which is reflected in his seemingly genuine enthusiasm and love for everything he does. And through an amateurish approach to editing, along with his charming childlike tendencies and immersive awkwardness, he really becomes a ridiculously entertaining and likeable character to follow. He’s just an all-around good egg.
