Main Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/MVTeeVee Eh, I thought this series was okay. It was mostly about martial arts. I didn't like the story all that much, there was too many holes in it. I was really looking forward to watching Chen Chiao En and Wallace Huo together but they didn't have a lot of scenes together. And the character of Wallace Huo had like four potential love connections in this series which threw me off. In a drama, having a character in love with so many different people, really makes viewers question the sincerity. And the character of Chen Chiao En, who is suppose to be an ambitious headstrong cold blooded leader, fell in love head over heels after only vaguely meeting Wallace twice. There wasn't any development, it was just BOOM - love. Overall I wasn't really digging the romance aspect of this series. This video isn't anything significant, I just put a bunch of clips together and try to make sense with the lyrics. I was debating beforehand whether I should make this video because there wasn't a lot of romance in the scenes. I think this series would've left a deeper impression on me if Dongfang Bu Bai was a guy. Actually, I'm not even sure about Dongfang's definite gender in this series. I believe in the original Swordsman story the character of Dongfang is a guy who had to castrate himself to learn martial arts and he later became gay and had feelings for the character of Linghu Chong. And there were things in this series that pointed to the possibilty that Dongfang could've been a guy. One, when Dongfang first got her hand on the martial arts manual she went on this crazy spree where she was requesting girls to visit her chamber and she eventually went all feminine herself; similar to what happen to the other two who castrated themself. Two, when the Sun Moon Sect leader destroyed the martial arts manual he mentioned that because Dongfang practice this kind of martial arts that she is 'neither a he or a she'. But I think for this series, they portrayed Dongfang as 100% female. When they were doing the flashback of her meeting her savior and hiding her sister in a bucket, that was before she was involved in the martial arts world, she was clearly dressed as a female. And if she was a female all along, she wouldn't have to castrate anything to learn martial arts, right? I DON'T KNOW. So confused, someone help clear this up for me. I have so many unanswered questions. It feels like I missed a whole chunk of the series. Why does Dongfang have to be number one? What happened to Dongfang's savior who persumable taught her martial arts? Who does Linghu Chong really love? Final words, I would've liked this series much better if Dongfang turned out to be a male. It would've added a interesting dynamic to the series but I can see why the director/company didn't want to take the risk since this is a Chinese series and most of Asia is still homophobic.
