The Gaur, also known as the Indian Bison, is a bovine native to South and Southeast Asia, and has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1986. A visit to Valparai will more often than not give a sight of this giant animal standing near the tea gardens. We had a good shoot after stopping the car while returning from a sight-seeing trip.
