AlyssaEveMitchel93's video: Lost Passport Excerpt from Sz l f ld

@Lost Passport (Excerpt from "Szülőföld")
“Lost Passport“ (First movement from newest work, "Szülőföld") Choreographed by Alyssa Mitchel Performed by Roxanne Black, Caitlin Hicks, Linda Steele II and Jessica Stucke Premiered at 145 Eddy Street on November 3rd-4th and 10th-11th, 2017. I was honored to be selected as the first choreographer to present work at SAFEhouse Arts' new location. Comprised of six sections with seven dancers, my newest work, "Szülőföld," was inspired by a recent trip to Eastern Europe, where many of my relatives, including my Hungarian-born great-grandfather, emigrated from in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Szülőföld is a Hungarian word for motherland or birthplace or—literally—‘land that is giving birth.’ Szülőföld is a place that provides community, culture, history, life and soul. Each section of the piece tells a different story from my trip. About the third section, “Lost Passport“: My trip began with a potentially vacation-ending glitch. Months earlier, I’d reported that I’d lost my passport. Subsequently, I found it, but upon arrival in London I was told that when I’d reported it missing it had been immediately invalidated. Fortunately, after a nerve-wracking delay, customs officials issued a temporary one and so the vacation began! Videographers: Kevin and Boyana Mitchell Music: “Moving Ground” by Henning Baer
