HONEY BEAR! FOOT LONG TONGUE! World’s longest?! (The Honey Loving Sun Bear!) This amazing animal is called the Malayan Sun bear. It’s also known as the honey bear because it has such a voracious appetite for honey and honey combs. They are known to use their very strong claws and jaws to tear open trees in search for wild bees, before using their remarkably long tongues to get at the honey. Sun bears are omnivores, so amongst other things, they’ll happily feed on termites, ants, beetles, earthworms as well as various fruits and vegetables. Found in the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, the unique little sun bear (they are actually the smallest bear species on earth) are under serious threat from habitat destruction and commercial poaching. The juvenile featured in this photo, named Fulung, has been rescued and is recuperating at the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre.
