Little Country Church Deep In The North Georgia Mountains w/The Retromantic The Retromantic and I visit a small country church deep in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in North Georgia. This little church was originally located even further in the woods in the late 1800's. It was originally located in a town that consisted of a school and houses. The town ceased to exist for unknown reasons, but most likely due to the depletion of whatever natural resources that originally established it. There is no trace of the town except possibly a network of old roads that can be found running through the forest. The current building, which has no electricity or running water, was built in 1975 by a minister and some of his friends and family. The church was not reconstituted when it was rebuilt on its current site. A graveyard dating back to the late 1800's is adjacent to the church. This is an active church with services every third and fifth Sunday of the month at 3:00 p.m. When a revival or homecoming is held, services are at night and the church illuminated with oil lamps and lanterns.
