Anders Enger Jensen's video: Cuba Baion MIDI-file version - On request from Techmoan -

Last year Mat from Techmoan asked me if I would be willing to make a Standard MIDI-file (or General MIDI compliant if you will) version of Kurt Drabek's "Cuba Baion" that he has been using for his Muppet outros. Keen to help as I am, I couldn't say no to such a challenge. So here you are, the official SMF version of the now all too famous Cuba Baion, using the Roland SC-55 of course. Techmoan initially wanted this as a perk for all his Patreons, but now that it's been a good year or so, we could release it to the public for you all to enjoy. Now, note that the original is a recording from the 1960s, done in mono and with all the artefacts that happen when using those old techniques. It's rather impossible to recreate the sound to the last detail using only the fairly limited GM sound set. Furthermore, the original recording was played without click track so I had to compromise a little bit. There is a tempo track that oscillates minutely as close as possible to the version Kurt and his Orchestra played, but I had to quantize somewhat in order to make it work. Hopefully it has enough flow and groove, despite that some parts sound a little bit quirky.
