It all started as a dream to create a high quality BBD delay that filled the gaps between higher definition repeats from the likes of the Maxon AD-900 and a tape echo. After many prototypes, the unexpected answer was to employ the common PT2399 chip with the same surrounding compander and filtering that is normally used to reduce BBD noise. Long story short, the Benson Delay goes all the way from 30-1250ms while retaining the midrange warmth of analog in addition to higher headroom sounds that allow repeats to float on much longer. The LFO section is equally impressive, with a wide modulation speed and depth range plus 3 waveforms to explore within the delay line: Sine, Square and Random. Bonus features include a super accurate Tap tempo section designed in France with Quarter, Dotted Eighth, and Eighth note subdivisions. You can also blast into spaceship sound by holding the tap switch and of course, turn the delay knob for a smooth takeoff or landing.
