Guitarfish are rays though they do somewhat look like sharks with their strong tails and conspicuous fins. Like other rays, guitarfish have spiracles through which they draw water to pass oxygen over their gills. They'll spend most of their time on the sea floor sometimes even burying themselves below sandy or muddy substrate. Guitarfish can be found in many warm tropical and temperate water around the world. They enter brackish water estuaries to breed and spawn.
