Ant is reciting a poem. His dark hair is messy, he is topless revealing his tattoos and he has dark glasses on. He recites a poem into a microphone. We see some plants and posters behind. He is awkwardly holding his laptop with the other hand. i’m in the waiting room. i know it well; i’ve been here before it’s familiar in a kind of fucked up, uncanny sort of way Deja vu it’s etched in my neural pathways the clinical smell the green patterned tiles each, intricate and individual overlapping and interlocking patterns spliced and diced creating a new i could get lost in them if my brain wasn’t BEING. SO. FUCKING. LOUD. I’m in your junk drawer hiding next to the discarded screws, the tumbleweed of dust and cracked elastic bands that would snap with the slightest stretch It’s where I live you can come and visit me here in between the drawer’s edge and the dark corner that thin strip of infinite velvety blackness the space in between i like to leave spaces in between things gaps chasms black holes a little bit of social distance some room to breathe a space between your expectations and my reality a place within a space that creates and catalyses belonging; limbo how low can YOU go? I’m in the space in between attempting to teach my impatience the value of silence profaning the inevitable and clinging desperately onto my theoretical life The gaping vacuum between me and me I don’t think I’ve ever really been a citizen of reality I’m in the space in between dancing and bobbing with flecks and particles a visitor in the silent garden of Eden I surrender myself to the weight of the emptiness The support of the void floating in a sea of treacle and motor oil on an inflatable lilo sipping on a mai tai and pulling shades down over my eyes; attempting to look cool as I let myself drown I hear the rapturous applause. a standing ovation. but when i look around I realise i’ve been sat by myself all along and the clapping I can hear is the buzzing of my heart and the breath pouring from my hot air balloon lungs. I’m in the space in between and I think I’ll have to wait here a little longer. You can go up ahead- It’ll be some time before my name appears on the screen and i’m called in.
