En junio del 2011, Anthony Choy realizó un extenso viaje de investigación por todo el Nororiente peruano. Cerca a la ciudad de Nueva Cajamarca, departamento de San Martín, en inmediaciones del río Mayo, mas exactamente en la zona denominada "Hatun Playa", Choy investigó el ataque de un extraño ser a dos señoritas, Mariela y Marisela Vela Quijano, cuyas características eran muy similares al legendario YACURUNA , terrorífico monstruo anfibio, cuya existencia inspiró a un personaje fantástico del cual se hizo una película que ganó un Premio Oscar: "La Forma del Agua" del laureado director Guillermo Del Toro.
