Truly Mallika-e-Ghazal, she pierced into every listener's heart with her sharp poignant notes. She gave meaning to every word she sang. Akhtari Bai Faizabadi, popularly known as "Begum Akhtar" is one of the most inspirational female icons for every singer. Those of you who know me well are aware that she is my most favourite ghazal and thumri singer. This is my Shraddhanjali to her everlasting tuneful memory, a humble attempt at one of her lesser attempted but most favourite ghazals, "Tabiyat In Dino Begana-e-Gham Hoti Jaati Hai" penned by Jigar Moradabadi.
