Anupama Roy's video: Imkaan A Song of Hope Full Video Song - Anupama Roy Faiz Ahmed Faiz

@Imkaan ~ A Song of Hope | Full Video Song - Anupama Roy | Faiz Ahmed Faiz
The word 'Imkaan' is very special. It means 'Possibility' (derived from the word 'Mumkin'). Life is all about possibilities. Dreaming, hoping, striving for something better. But the other side of the truth of life, is despair. We have all experienced it. Some feel it more often than others do. The song Imkaan is all about creating hope in situations of despair. Why "creating" rather than "finding" hope? Because, we ourselves have to be the generators of hope. We often feel we can fly high, get opportunities, or have some expectations that a situation will get better, and we park our hopes on external entities like our families, the government, or some kind of leader. But more often than not, we are met by despair and disappointment. There is a wonderful quote by Martin Luther King Jr. "If you can't fly, run. If you can't run, walk. If you can't walk, crawl. But you have to keep moving." This is the truth of life, where a person is the creator of their own "Imkaan". The possibility of spring in a harsh autumn, the rays of light that dawn upon a dark, endless night. The song video is a tribute to how, us, human beings have brought in, even if in the smallest way: verdancy, light and hope. This ghazal is a new original song, composed and sung by Anupama Roy, and is written by one of the most celebrated Urdu poets, late Faiz Ahmed Faiz, equally revered in both India and Pakistan. He was a recipient of the Lenin Peace Prize. Lyrics: Roshan Kahin Bahaar Ke Imkaan Hue To Hain Gulshan Mein Chaak Chand Girebaan Hue To Hain -- रोशन कहीं बहार के इम्काँ हुए तो हैं गुलशन में चाक चंद गिरेबाँ हुए तो हैं -- Some possibilities of spring are visible now, at least A few buds in the gardens have bloomed open their petals Ab Bhi Khiza Ka Raaj Hai, Lekin Kahin Kahin Gosh-e-Raah-e-Chaman Mein Ghazal-Khwaan Hue To Hain -- अब भी ख़िज़ाँ का राज है, लेकिन कहीं कहीं गोश-ए-राह-ए-चमन में ग़ज़ल-ख़्वाँ हुए तो हैं -- Autumn still reigns all over, yet, here and there Nooks and corners of the garden path seem to emanate songs of spring Ahl-e-Qafas Ki Subah-e-Chaman Mein Khulegi Aankh Baad-e-Saba Se Vaada-e-Paimaan Hue To Hain -- अहल-ए-क़फ़स की सुबह-ए-चमन में खुलेगी आँख बाद-ए-सबा से वादा-ए-पैमाँ हुए तो हैं -- The prisoner's eyes will open to a beautiful morning in the garden of liberation The morning breeze has carried in with it this promise of emancipation Hai Dasht, Ab Bhi Dasht, Magar Khoon-e-Paa Se Faiz Sairaab Chand Khaar-e-Mugelaan Hue To Hain! -- है दश्त, अब भी दश्त, मगर खून-ए-पा से फैज़ सैराब चंद ख़ार-ए-मुग़ैलाँ हुए तो हैं -- The desert, is still a desert, but, O Faiz, blood that oozed out from the feet Has irrigated a few thorns in the barren, to nourish them out of misery! - Faiz Ahmed Faiz Credits: Video editing, concept and direction: Anupama Roy Videography and directional inputs: Puneet Solanki Sound recording and mixing: Dipesh Pandit @ Sounds Good Studios Tabla: Amey Thakurdesai Harmonium: Bhupendra Gove Additional video credits: Some video snippets have been taken from some other amazing, informative videos on Youtube, to illustrate the meaning of the song.
