The song usually finishes with a quite sobering line sung by Sovay: "If you had given me that ring she said I'd have pulled the trigger, pulled the trigger and shot you dead''. I opted for Johns more pleasant ending: "And now I have a contented mind, my heart and all mine, my heart and all mine here is thine".
