Tonight I had a great experience stroking and feeding this mature female doe for a half hour, documented a little part of the interaction here for memories! After sitting with the herd for a while (in background), one lucky buck and his harem and adolescent males, i decided to approach this beauty. She was particularly keen for fresh acorns and leaves direct from the branches which i readily pulled down. I was taken aback how she let me stroke her, a wild animal! Just minutes after we parted i heard the sound of a baby deer (they are left by mothers in high vegetation whilst foraging to keep safe from predation), and the same female went and embraced the little one, obviously hers, so nice to think i helped her gain extra nutrients converted to milk for the little one. Her soulful eyes were everything!
