The problem of kidney disease is increasing globally. 10-14% of general population globally are having chronic kidney disease. Most common cause of CKD is Diabetes mellitus followed by Hypertension, Chronic glomerulonephritis, kidney stones, chronic interstitial nephritis due either to prolonged use of pain killer medicines or chronic kidney infections, and polycystic disease of the kidney. Kidney disease produces aeeays of vague and non-specific symptoms which do not become evident until the problem becomes quite serious. So, the wise decision would be to do regular kidney check up at least once in a year. After thorough physical examination, the doctor would ask for blood tests that would comprise at least of urea and creatinine test in the blood, urine examination and ultrasound of the abdomen (at least in the first visit). The most wise idea would be to make a habit of routine kidney check up once in a year during the birthday.
