Dumaguete, also known as the City of the Gentle People and the capital of Negros Oriental is one of the most sustainable cities in the country. Though commercialization is fast intruding, many still consider it as a relaxed base to explore nearby islands. Foreigners and tourists linger longer here, in fact, it is now a popular retirement destination in the Philippines. The city's low-paced appeal is enhanced by a handful of tourist attractions, a charming promenade and amiable people.
