Astronomy and Nature TV's video: Vintage Binocular Masterclass Part 1

@Vintage Binocular Masterclass (Part 1)
In this series of videos we take a leisurely look at some of the vintage optics in our collection and along the way trace some of the most important steps in the development of the modern prismatic binocular. We will be outlining the binocular's long parallel history with telescopes and highlighting the surprisingly late arrival of the recognisably 'modern' binocular. In part 1 we look at Galilean and twin telescope binoculars and the late 19th century arrival of the Zeiss prismatic binocular. Later in the series we'll be looking at the market defining effects of the Abbe/Zeiss patent, how the prismatic binocular works, and the steps taken by other manufacturers to keep their foothold in the rapidly expanding binocular business dominated by the alliance of Zeiss and Bausch & Lomb.
