Attila's Workshop's video: Bandsaw Circle Tool

@Bandsaw Circle Tool
Before I made this tool I'd only ever cut a circle on the bandsaw once, and that was for my 'Two Moons' project. To say that circle cutting on that project was rough is an understatement. To make things easier and more reliable in the future, I've made a simple circle tool for the bandsaw. Of course as with most things I make, all the fun is in the making and when using it in the future, I'll no doubt be much more exited in the project that I'm working on with the aid of this tool. The materials consist of a small sheet of 16mm melamine covered chipboard, a couple of draw slides, some aluminium from my stores and a very useful self adhesive rule. The diameter of the circles that can be cut are from 60mm to 940mm. I estimate the total cost of materials here to be in the seventy to eighty dollar range. I hope you enjoy the video. Cut and paste from comment answer: For this design I've sacrificed 60mm in cutting height, and I still have over 200mm cutting height left. As to the design itself, well, I need to explain my methodology here. A future project requires that I cut a large, accurate circle. I could have done this by making the standard cutting jig as you can find in many videos here on you tube, namely a board that runs in the miter slot on the table with an adjustable pin for setting diameter. These kind of jigs are probably the most cost effective and utilitarian solutions, but I also wanted to make an entertaining video of the project and making the standard jig is pointless as it's been done so many times and is quite uninteresting. So, my circle tool is more complex than it needs to be, and it's more expensive than it needs to be, but it's fun to make, it's interesting material for a video, it looks good, it's a pleasure to use and does the intended task well Music; Dreamy Flashback by Kevin MacLeod Night Music by Kevin MacLeod
