Audley Travel's video: Audley Guide Awards Singapore 2018

Welcome to the Audley Guide Awards. Every year, we hold a special ceremony to celebrate our hand-picked local guides from across Asia, and to acknowledge guides who have performed their role with particular aplomb. Previous ceremonies have been held in Cambodia and Malaysia and this year it was Singapore’s turn to host. Our winning guides, who flew in from Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent and China, enjoyed a weekend of activities and experiences in Singapore. As you can see in this video, they toured the city’s Gardens by the Bay (with their Avatar-esque Supertrees), the temples of Chinatown, and the architecturally ground-breaking Marina Bay Sands hotel. In the video, we hear from Brian, one of our partners in the Philippines, and an experienced guide himself. He explains why he chose to go into guiding and why he finds it so rewarding. We also hear from Nikki, another Philippines guide: it’s her first time in Singapore, and she tells us what she appreciates about working with us. As well as the award ceremony, which was held at the Fullerton hotel (and which you can see snippets of in this video), our guides took part in a workshop to share their expert-guiding tips and advice. They were also entertained by a bian lian dancer demonstrating the Chinese art of ‘face-changing’ using bright masks. The winning guides are given prize money and a special silver lapel badge — look out for these badges the next time you’re met by one of our guides.
