Project Gilghi is a solar-powered, containerised water treatment plant which provides Indigenous and remote communities with quality potable water by turning feed water into drinkable water. Project Gilghi represents a revolutionary “turnkey” modular system that can significantly contribute to reaching the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 – ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for all by 2030, with global applications for remote communities and disaster recovery. The project was recognised by the Australian Water Association in 2020 as the New South Wales Infrastructure Project Innovation of the Year. It was also recognised in the Social Impact category at the 2020 Good Design Awards for its breakthrough design, and at Engineering Australia's Australian Engineering Excellence Awards 2020.
