Aussie Destinations Unknown's video: Blue Derby

This place was the NUMBER ONE for Chris on the list of 'must -do's' in Tasmania. From the day he heard it was being built, Blue Derby was calling his name loud and clear! We waited until the kids had flown home before hitting the tracks with my mate Wade who had come up from Hobart for the weekend with some mates. Chris rode his Giant ebike until the battery was almost dead, and he loved every metre of ground that he flew over. Then he loaded the bike in to the back of the Hilux and we continued exploring on foot. Mum and dad came with us, and we all had a great time ... and Chris was the only one who rode! This place really caters for all ages, and to those with or without bikes There are plenty of places to hire mountain bikes and e-bikes if you don’t have your own. Shuttle buses are also waiting ready to take those riding ‘normal bikes’ to the top. Chris rode up of course, overtaking the shuttles as he went! Derby is a gorgeous little town, one that I remember from the 'Derby River Derby' days ... and one that has been transformed into this insanely cool mountain biking mecca complete with bike washes, a kids pump track, tracks suited to all levels of riders, camping and rider-friendly cafes. We loved it and next time we will be camping for a few days and exploring much more of this incredible Tassie town.
